the Rug Issue #1

Wit’s Happnin?

MAGAZINE SUBMISSIONS

the Rug is Glasgow’s newest independant magazine dedicated to local news, grassroots creatives, and bridging Glasgow’s communities through story telling.

Four years ago we set out to pull the rug back on those stories which are often brushed away, and now we are dedicating this magazine to Glasgow as we turn the page into a new era of storytelling with you.

We’re saying NO to ai algorithms & social media harvesting and building a new way for Glaswegians to connect through physical media by and for us all, old & new.

Whilst we recognise the immediacy and importance of using social media & digital platforms as a tool, the Rug is designed to be a sanctuary where we can all get off our phones and connect through print.

ISSUE #1 Wit’s Happnin?

We’ll be taking a deep look into our cities creative infrastructure, the barriers creatives face in Glasgow, and accessibility to the arts for all, as well as local events, what’s on, and more!

We’re keen to hear from writers who respond to the theme of ‘Wit’s Happnin?’ in Glasgow and, if applicable, how they think it can be improved. Think of your article/interview/story as being a catalyst for conversation.

Interested in writing for us?

Send us your ideas and articles to enquiries@undertherug.co.uk. We are open to a range of different formats and also accept creative interpretations.

Useful advice: What do you want people to know? How does this affect them? and what can we collectively do to make change happen? Are the three questions we hold at the core of very issue.
