Our hub transforms a simple office space into a working environment for emerging theatre makers, featuring rehearsal space, read-through table, and theatre.
We are very fortunate to be a part of the Outer Spaces network, an organisation that seeks to find artistic use for disused offices and commercial properties. We highly recommend you support their work in creating more creative hubs around Glasgow!

There are two entrances to the hub.
One faces onto Waterloo Street with sliding doors. This is a ground floor entrance with steps and an accessibility lift to go up to the main atrium.
The second entrance faces Blythswood street with a narrow sliding door and two steps leading to main atrium.
Once inside the atrium there are both stairs and lifts leading to our floor.
The floor and hub itself are fully accessible.

To enquire about using the hub please fill in the appropriate form by clicking on one of the three buttons below.
Before making a request, please check our availability calendar to ensure we have space available on the day of your request.
Upon receiving your request our team will aim to reply to you swiftly. You will be asked to agree to our space agreement and be given a suggested donation based upon your time.
On receipt of the signed space agreement we will confirm your booking.

Arrival: Please arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before your booking.
Sign in/out: Make sure to sign in and out of the space, this helps us keep track of where you are!
Access: For safety and security, please do not enter the space unless a member of staff is present.
Space Care: Please leave the rehearsal space as you found it, ensuring all litter or mess is cleared away. Cleaning equipment is available should any spills or crumbs succumb to gravity!
Food and Drinks: Please take unfinished foods and liquids with you when your time is complete. Our bins are only for litter and non perishables.
Respecting Neighbours: We share our floor with other artists. Please remain within the Under the Rug area and do not move or use furniture belonging to our neighbours.
Equipment and Costumes: Our inventory is on display in the space. If you wish to use anything in a rehearsal please ask the member of staff on duty first. To borrow any items please email enquiries@undertherug.co.uk.
Damages: Please report any accidental damage to a staff member. Please note that you may be asked to cover reimbursement costs.
Departure: Please ensure your get out is completed within 15 minutes of your time ending.
Rehearsal space for emerging artists
The hub offers affordable rehearsal and read-through space for emerging theatre makers in Glasgow. With a flexible shape and comfy breakout area, the hub is here to make room for all your theatrical or artistic needs. Whether you have a company rehearsal, a new script to air, or just a space to perfect your craft we’re here to help!
As a charity we operate on a suggestion donation policy:
Hourly: Suggested donation of £7
Day (6 hours): Suggested donation of £30
Free Fridays (9-5): For unfunded and unpaid emerging theatre makers
Workshop hire
The hub is also home to various workshops and visitors looking to share their craft and relish in it with their fellow theatre makers.

As a charity we operate on a suggested donation policy:
Paid workshop: Suggested donation of 20% from total revenue
Free workshop: Free!
Events
Thinking of holding an event to showcase your latest works? Want to share you talent with an intimate audience? Have a showcase or rehearsed reading in mind?
The hub is open to small scale events. With our small theatre space, hosting up to 30 seats and basic lighting set up, it’s the perfect place for those little bits and bob before you hop onto the big stage!

Paid Event: Suggested donation of 30% of revenue

We operate on a two monthly schedule and cannot provide availability beyond this.
To operate outside of operational hours, please note in your application and we can have a discussion. Note this will require a donation to secure our volunteers time and operational costs.
